Btw, it seems like everyone has got the hunch that I advocate using strings as primary keys. That's not the point of this article.

The point is solely that there's an alternative approach to generate entity IDs - one that doesn't require the need for a database to wipe out IDs.

Also, it's entirely possible to have entity id and primary keys as two separate columns in the database.
