No sweat, the story is meant to be provocative and I fully understand not all will read the whole thing. It’s very visible in the responses.

I do state that I actually don’t care about what datatype you use, only that what ever the ID is, it is generated at the application level.

In fact, I don’t even mention anything about Primary keys at all.

A table’s primary key is a database concern. Not an application’s.
